Week One
Castles, Castles, Castles. And yes, Casper got a flat tyre.

In September we set off to Romania for a two-week Scout Tour with the  Craftwerk Berlin crew.

The Carpathians delivered exactly what we seek: 80% demanding tarmac, 20% adventurous gravel, legendary passes, unreal views, and proper riding days. Week one around Brașov had it all — plus history at every corner.

Peleș Castle? As promised, breathtaking. Fun fact: it was Europe’s first fully electrified castle, with central heating and even a central vacuum system.

Olive Track-ready means the full package: curated routes, exceptional stays, handpicked restaurants, and landmarks that enrich the ride.

On that 20% gravel, deep in the forest, Casper got a flat. Two local Romanian guys stopped immediately to help. Two certainties: you never ride alone, and Romanians are incredibly kind.

Week One
Bends in the road, or Band on the road?

Week one’s highlight was without any doublt the Transfăgărășan Pass.

Stretching 90 km across the southern Carpathians and climbing to 2,034 m, this legendary road was built in the 1970s as a military route. Today, it’s famed for hairpins, S-curves, and jaw-dropping scenery.

Fun fact: the Transfăgărășan is so photogenic that almost the entire road fits in one frame — a must for any motorcycle bucket list.

Just past the summit, we had a thrilling encounter: five brown bears! Naturally, we passed with full respect and distance.

Olive Track delivers exactly this: challenging tarmac, epic vistas, unforgettable memories, and the sense that every bend tells a story.

Week Two:
Main ingredients for an epic trip:
1. Good people,
2. Good roads,
3. Good food

Our second HQ was near Sibiu in the western Carpathians, close to the Transalpina Pass — 8 hours of riding bliss, rated 12/10.

The Transalpina stretches 148 km, peaking at 2,145 m, Romania’s highest road. Mostly smooth tarmac, it features sharp hairpins, wide sweeping curves, and constant elevation changes — perfect for riders craving challenge and epic views.

Not a secret, but a must-ride. Three hours take you through dense forests, charming villages, and up to rolling meadows with dramatic vistas. We couldn’t resist — rode it twice in a day. Two rides, two rounds of helmet tears from pure adrenaline.

Olive Track’s promise: incredible roads, stunning landscapes, and shared moments that stick forever.

Week Two:
It was epic!

We also made time for history! Hunedoara Castle, a Gothic-Renaissance fortress from the 15th century, impressed with its towers and courtyards.

In Hășdat, southern Hunedoara, we discovered a unique neighborhood of grand, multi-story mansions. These villas feature tiered roofs, balconies, marble columns, and symbolic details integrated into the façades. They showcase local craftsmanship, creativity, and pride — a fascinating part of Romania’s architectural culture.

Olive Track is about the full experience: thrilling roads, unforgettable views, and discovering the culture and history behind the landscapes we ride through.

Romania, you were epic — already dreaming of the next adventure!
