Beneath it: rock and scorched earth. The colours are something else, too. The slight haze coming in from the sea softens the light and gives everything a warm, almost dreamlike quality. Rarely have I experienced sunsets as beautiful as the ones I saw by the sea in Spain in February and March.
The desert of Almería is one of those places that gets under your skin. Wide open landscapes, dusty tracks, dry riverbeds, rocky hills and endless light — and every day brings a completely different kind of terrain.
We know the area incredibly well and have spent countless hours exploring its roads, tracks and ramblas. Now we’re thinking about turning that knowledge into something special.

In my eyes, the area within 100 kilometres of Almería has pretty much everything you could wish for.
Excellent paved roads, gravel tracks leading to abandoned mining villages – that is sometimes more adventure than you might have asked for. Big skies, spectacular views, the sea, and empty beaches where you can feel like you’ve got the whole coastline to yourself.
And then, at the end of the day, you ride back down towards the coast and the bittersweet scent of orange blossom fills the air.
